This is the Ol’ Sports Talker Football is over for another season. All I have to look forward to is the NFL draft and minor league baseball.
Super Bowl 43 is History and it was one of the best super Bowls I have seen. The Arizona Cardinals had a chance to put the Steelers away, only to come up short in the end. The game that the “experts” said no one would watch, turned out to be one of the highest games ever. I have had to listen to Pittsburgh Steelers fans tell me that their team is the greatest of al time. (Sorry, I’m not sure of that.) That is usually followed by how great the Cowboys are. I have to congratulate the Steelers and their fans for six Super Bowl victories. Now we have free agency and the NFL draft to look forward to.
Albert Haynesworth a COLTS? While at the NFL Pro Bowl, someone tossed him a COLTS helmet. I have mixed emotions about this. While I would love to see him bring his intensity to the COLTS, The picture of him stepping on a payer is still in my mind. Bill Polian is not one to sign high profile free agents. I kind of figure this is a long shot, at best.
I’m beginning to think that the only way I am going to get on the air as a Sports Talk Radio Host is win the lottery and buy a station! It’s a vicious circle. Stations don’t want to hire you unless you have a demo CD. You can’t really make a demo CD unless you are on the air. Oh, you can invite friends over and make one, but it’s not the same thing.
Is everyone as tired of hearing about steroids in baseball as I am? Bonds, A Rod, Sosa and McGuire. I don’t know whether or not they took them. I wasn’t in the clubhouse, but it looks like many of the baseball stars did. If you did, who cares now. If you do, stop! Chances are, you can kiss your HOF nomination goodbye.
My Brother in Law is having a field day this year. His Boilermakers are playing well while my Hurrin’ Hoosiers are cellar dwellers. At least I still have Davidson to fall back on. He keeps telling me to, “Come to the dark side!” I tell him, “No Never!”
NASCAR starts their 2009 season this week with the Bud Shootout. Excuse me if I yawn. With all the mergers in NASCAR, how soon will we see only a small number of each car manufacturer start races? 3 teams of each, Toyota, Chevy, Ford, Dodge and Honda with 3 cars each. That would be 45 cars. The independents would be relegated to the Nationwide Series. I can see it coming. Remember you heard it here first.
This is the Ol’ Sports Talker saying vroom, vroom and be, an athletic supporter!
